Gold Country — Deja Vu All Over Again
The people of Nevada County have inherited multiple deactivated gold mines like
San Juan Ridge Siskon Mine which populate the landscape like graveyards of
extractive capitalism and monuments to genocidal racism. As a result,
we are surrounded by existing and potential ecological devastation caused by these
toxic mining operations. At the same time, the NC County Supervisors are now
under economic and political pressure to allow one or more of these relics to
once again become active environmental crime scenes.

"Water or Gold" is grassroots investigative journalism at its best and can serve as a
research primer on the pending Rise Gold Corp Idaho-Maryland mine in Grass Valley.
In both cases, the final successful community-driven political action chapters
leading to a happy ending are yet to be written and actualized.
This is the reason we have created this site and are working on companion films
to support proactive concerned citizen actions to convince the NC Board of Supervisors
to permanently shutdown the Rise Gold Corp permitting process and operations.
